The Slab Caster maintenance workshop is located in the heart of Bluescope Steel's Port Kembla Steel works. The workshop provides critical support to the Bluescope Steel slab caster production and maintenance teams and is recognized as a world class facility.

The Slab Caster maintenance workshop specialises in the overhaul of caster segments and moulds which are the core equipment in the continuous casting of steel slabs from molten steel at the Bluescope Steel Port Kembla steelworks. The overhaul involves inspection, dismantling, repair and reclamation of components, assembly, alignment and testing to ensure that moulds and segments are ready for service when required. The maintenance contract has been in operation since 1992 with Mainteck Services taking control since 2002.

The 5500m2 workshop is able to provide customers with the experience and expertise to perform our customers maintenance requirements with a view for continual improvement to reduce costs.

  • Access to Veolia 65t Forklift
  • Dedicated wash bay (approx. 8m x 6m)
    - Solid retention

  • Parts Cleaning Tanks
  • Pressure and flow testing facilities
  • Hydraulic testing facilities
  • Dedicated welders bay
